Research

Sharing the collections and making them accessible is at the heart of our mission.

Get help with your research

Many enquiries directed to the Museum are from people researching their family histories, commonly requesting information on individual mariners or passengers and specific ships.

We are glad to help where we can, but assistance can only be given in respect of records contained in the museum’s collections.

Researchers are welcome to consult collection objects and archives by appointment.

Beyond objects and archives, the museum’s excellent Library and Research Volunteers are happy to help with research on material held in our collections.

For research enquiries please email researchmmt@maritimetas.org with your contact details and research query.

A charge of $15.00 is normally made for this service to help us maintain our collections. The deposit may be refundable if we are unable to help with your query.
