Lunchtime Talk | Ellie Green, Derwent Estuary Program
Join us at TMAG for the latest in our Lunchtime Talks series with Ellie Green from the Derwent Estuary Program.
With a background in freshwater and estuarine ecology, Antarctic research, and environmental management, Ellie is passionate about engaging community members and young people in ecological monitoring and management to improve ecosystem health, awareness, and foster connection to local environments.
In this talk, Ellie will give an update on the Windermere Bay Saltmarsh Restoration Project – a major initiative reclaiming and rehabilitating marshlands in Glenorchy after decades of infill. You'll hear how baseline condition surveys and collaborative research led to this significant on-ground effort to restore one of our most vulnerable ecological communities.
Ellie will also share updates from the Derwent Estuary Program’s conservation work with Little Penguins and Spotted Handfish, including new surveys and the use of ceramic artificial spawning habitats to support the future of these iconic local species.
No need to RSVP, just turn up on the day.
