Maritime Museum member Dale Chatwin is a whaling historian with forty years experience researching the subject. His interest in whale charts started at the National Library in 1986 when he discovered an uncatalogued set of Maury's 'Wind and Current Chart' series which included five whale charts in Series F. In this presentation he will outline the purpose and history of whale charts and discuss their usefulness in the present day.
